Monica Tranel was raised on a ranch in Eastern Montana. She became a world-class rower, competing in two Olympics and winning a World Championship Gold for the United States Women’s Rowing Team - the first U.S. Women’s eight to win gold at 2000 meters.

Tranel went on to work her way through college and law school, and as a lawyer, took on corporate monopolies. She even took Northwestern all the way to the state supreme court, and won, saving rate payers $10 million. She stopped a New York Hedge fund from cheating Montana small businesses, and beat out-of-state corporation’s attempts to steal land from local ranchers.

She is now running for Congress to defeat Republican incumbent, Ryan Zinke, and hold corporations and politicians accountable. Tranel is endorsed by many state elected officials as well as organizations including EMILY’s List, LCV, NewDem Action Fund, Reproductive Freedom For All, and Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

Monica Tranel is aligned with J Street's values and believes that “supporting Israel’s security and right to self-defense and supporting Palestinian human rights, aid, and safety are not mutually exclusive and [she] support[s] a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
