Johnny Olszewski (better known as “Johnny O”) was born and raised in Baltimore County. He was the first in his family to graduate college and he began his career teaching civics in public schools for seven years. As a result of his experience as a teacher in public schools, Johnny decided to run for County Executive.
As County Executive, Johnny O passed legislation on gun violence prevention, police reform, and funding for public schools. He is committed to principles of equity and accountability. Seeing democracy under attack and extremists threatening basic rights, Johnny O decided to run for United States Congress in Maryland’s 2nd district.
Johnny O has committed to supporting J Street’s positions in Congress. He supports a two-state solution and opposes unilateral actions that make peace harder to achieve. At home, Johnny O recognizes the rise of antisemitism and has actively collaborated with local Jewish organizations to build a more inclusive and tolerant community.
